THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC
DELUXE GREATEST HITS PACKAGE FEATURING MUSIC FROM 1975-1997
LAUNCHES YEAR OF FLEETWOOD MAC
Fleetwood Mac, one of the most original and influential bands in modern musical history, will celebrate their extraordinary legacy and open a new chapter of their storied career
with the release of THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC, a deluxe double-CD package set
for shipment October 15 on Reprise Records.
The announcement of this comprehensive retrospective, highlighting 36 of the group's
most creatively and commercially successful original songs, comes on the heels of news that
the band is currently completing a brand-new studio album, recorded in Los Angeles and
tentatively scheduled for release in the spring of 2003. The as-yet unnamed album will feature
members of the group's most familiar and beloved lineup--Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham,
Mick Fleetwood and John McVie--and is the first recording of new material to include both
Nicks and Buckingham since 1989's Tango In The Night. An extensive tour, with dates to be
announced shortly, will follow the eagerly awaited new release.
Along with spotlighting such quintessential Fleetwood Mac classics as "Dreams," "Don't
Stop," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," "Rhiannon," "You Make Loving Fun," "Little Lies,"
"Tusk" and others, THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC also features in-concert renditions of "Big Love," "I'm So Afraid" and "Go Insane," originally heard on the group's 1997
live recording, The Dance. Also included is the group's studio version of the Stevie Nicks
original, "Landslide" (currently a hit single for the Dixie Chicks). Among the enhanced-CD
package's special features are included never-before-seen video footage of the band, a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the recording of their upcoming album, and a link to an exclusive web
site with upcoming tour information. A full-length documentary of the recording process will be
broadcast and released as a DVD next year.
The package for THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC highlights liner notes from Roiling Stone contributing editor David Wild, an introduction from Iongtime friend and fan Sheryl
Crow and an extensive selection of new and vintage photographs. The collections will be
available at all retail outlets, as well as online at www.onlyhitmusic.com for a suggested list
price of $24.98.
Originally formed in 1967, Fleetwood Mac underwent a series of personnel changes
before coalescing into one of rock and roll's true supergroups when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey
Buckingham joined Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie. Throughout the late
'70s, the group made music history with a record-breaking string of multiplatinum albums, most
notably 1975's Fleetwood Mac and 1977's Rumours, a Grammy-winning Album Of The Year
and one of the best-selling albums of all time. The group's success in the studio was repeated
on stage with sold-out world tours that still represent an apogee in the art of rock and roll
performance.
