A new greatest hits collection from Fleetwood
Mac is coming October 15, 2002 from Reprise Records. The Very Best Of
Fleetwood Mac is a two-CD set that features 36 songs from the band's
latter-day lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey
Buckingham, Stevie
Nicks, and Christine
McVie.
None of the songs on the album date from before
the band's 1975 self-titled set, which was the first with the newly-added
Buckingham-Nicks tag team. In fact, 21 of the 36 tracks come from the 1975 to
1979 period, which saw the release of the Fleetwood
Mac, Rumours,
and Tusk albums. It also includes two songs that have only appeared on the 1988 Greatest
Hits collection ("As Long As You Follow" and "No Questions
Asked"), as well as the Buckingham solo hit "Go Insane," recorded
live at the 1997 Fleetwood Mac reunion shows that made up The
Dance.
Another point of interest for collectors is the
inclusion of the rare studio version of "Silver Springs." A fan
favorite, it was originally available only on the B-side of the 1977 single
"Go Your Own Way," and later on the out-of-print boxed set The
Chain. (A live version of it from the album The Dance became a
minor hit in 1997.)
The band is also working on a new studio album,
its first since 1995's Time,
which is expected early next year.
The tracklisting for The Very Best Of
Fleetwood Mac includes:
Disc One: "Go Your Own Way,"
"Dreams," "You Make Loving Fun," "Rhiannon,"
"Monday Morning," "Silver Springs," "Say You Love
Me," "Second Hand News," "Over My Head,"

"Landslide," "Songbird," "What Makes You Think You're
The One," "Storms," "Go Insane" (live), and

Disc Two: "Don't Stop," "The
Chain," "Little Lies," "Gypsy," "Think About
Me," "Gold Dust Woman," "World Turning," "Hold

Man," "Sisters Of The Moon," "As Long As You Follow,"
"No Questions Asked," "Skies The Limit," "Paper
Doll," "I'm So Afraid" (Live), and "Big Love" (live).
