Return Of The Songbird
Christine McVie
Christine McVie is back! The first lady of Fleetwood Mac and key songwriting force behind some of the band's biggest hits including 'Don't Stop' and 'You Make Loving Fun', 'Everywhere' and 'Little Lies' retums with a brand new solo album, In the Meantime, out September 7"' on KOCH Records.
In The Meantime is the perfect showcase for Christine's instantly recognizable voice and eloquent, intimate song writing. '
The album is produced by Christine, her nephew Dan Perfect and Ken Caillet. Christine takes full songwriting credit for the second track 'You Are' and co-writes ten of the album's 12 songs. Highlights include the infectious 'Friend', the beautiful, 'You Are' and the haunting,'Calumny.'
Christine last performed with Fleetwood Mac at the Brit Awards in 1998, where the band picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding contribution to music. She last collaborated with the band on 1995's Time studio album. A vital lynchpin of Fleetwood Mac, Christine wrote a string of hits for the band including the hit tracks, 'Don't Stop,' 'Over My Head,' 'You Make Loving Fun' and 'Songbird.' Christine was a member of the group for nearly thirty years and as she observes, "Not a day goes by that I don't think about Fleetwood Mac."
Since leaving the band, Christine retumed to her roots by living a quiet life in the country. However, writing has always been Christine's first love and the time away from touring and music has allowed her to retum to recording with a new outlook and a new- found sense of freedom.
The album developed organically, growing over a period of time after Christine asked Dan to collaborate with her on an early album track. The partnership flourished and the project blossomed into the new album. Dan states, "Christine sounds as young as she does on 'Rumours."' The result is a mesmerizing and expressive album from one of music's most compelling and distinctive talents.
In The Meantime will be released on September 7th.

Behind every great force is a distinguished First Lady (Jackie 0., Donatella Versace), and Fleetwood Mac's First Lady was unquestionably Christine Mcvie. With Christine's father a college professor 8< concert violinist and her mother a medium, psychic and faith healer, it was this lineage that poised Christine to bring the scholarly yet bohemian element to Fleetwood Mac's songwriting and identity as the quintessential Seventies Super group.
No First Lady looses her independence or identity (Hillary Clinton). While many take a step out of the limelight, as Christine has, it is only temporary. After years of penning hits like "Don't Stop" (Bill Clinton's Presidential Candidacy Theme Song), "You Make Loving Fun," "Everywhere" and touring with the Mac and after a successful solo release Christine Mcvie, Christine looked for relief from the grind of performing.
As of late Christine can be found in the English countryside of Kent. it is here that Christine crafted her first solo album in 20 years. KOCH Records brings Christine's charms to the USA with In the Meantime hitting stores Sept. 7th. While Christine no longer lives the debaucheries life Fleetwood Mac made famous, she does feel her current songwriting is, "tougher and not as soft as in the past...more brash less careful."
Give In the Meantime a spin. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and would love to speak with you about a piece on this prolific artist.
